This week’s guest, Sharla Flock of Sharla Flock Designs, came highly recommended as she is known for being a floral industry advocate and embodies the philosophy “community over competition”. If those two concepts speak to your soul then you want to stick around for this episode of Mornings with Mayesh.
Below are the podcast, video replay, and show notes:
SHOW NOTES
- You came highly recommended to have as a guest on Mornings with Mayesh from our friend Jeanne over at CalFlowers because you are such an advocate for the flower industry, and more specifically the San Francisco floral community. It feels like much of the industry is embracing the idea of Community over Competition, and you’re the perfect person to have that conversation with. Before we get started, can you introduce yourself and share a bit about your flower story?
- What is your philosophy when it comes to competition within the industry?
- Have you seen a shift among floral designers in regards to the idea of community over competition?
- Is there a strong network of freelancers & florists supporting each other in the Bay Area?
- Jeanne mentioned that you started a local Facebook group - Bay Area Floral Support. How has that worked for the area or evolved over time?
- The Bay Area is such a unique market since it has become one of the most expensive cities in the world thanks to Big Tech. Can you talk a little bit about how that has affected the industry, and any involvement you have had in trying to support local floral businesses?
- If you could look 10, 20, 30 years into the future, where would you hope to see our industry or what changes do you think are coming?
