Holiday Charity Drive 2019

Every holiday season each Mayesh branch chooses a charity to support in a holiday charity drive. In addition to a donation from Mayesh, we open contributions to our staff and customers to help raise awareness, money and collect items for those in need each holiday season.

In honor of today being Giving Tuesday, we wanted to share with you the charities we are supporting this year. Learn more about the charities below, and contact your sales rep to find out how you can contribute too.

Bakersfield - Ronald McDonald House

Since 1974, RMHC has created programs that strengthen families during difficult times. RMHC provides vital resources and compassionate care to children and their families being served by leading hospitals worldwide. Core RMHC programs — Ronald McDonald House, Ronald McDonald Family Room, and Ronald McDonald Care Mobile programs — provide access to health care and enable family-centered care. RMHC helped lessen the burden for millions of families in 2018. 

Brannan Street (SF) - SF SCPA

As the fourth oldest humane society in the U.S. and the founders of the No-Kill movement, The San Francisco SPCA has always been at the forefront of animal welfare.  As a result of our efforts and partnerships with our community partners, San Francisco has the lowest euthanasia rate of any major city in the country.   

Carlsbad - Salvation Army Toy Drive

The Salvation Army provides year-round programs to help people in low-income communities thrive. Give the gift of Christmas this year to children in need in your local community.

Chandler - Gompers & United Food Bank

Gompers - For over 72 years, Gompers has existed solely to provide outstanding services to people with disabilities and their families. We believe our best days are ahead, as we relentlessly seek out ways to transform the services we provide.

United Food Bank - Our mission is to stabilize the lives of hungry, low-income people within Eastern Maricopa, Gila and Pinal, and Southern Navajo and Apache Counties of Arizona by actively acquiring, storing and distributing large quantities of wholesome and nutritious foods to our network of community and strategic partners, combined with advocacy and educational initiatives that enhance lives.

Charlotte - Second Harvest Food Bank

Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina (SHMETROLINA) strives through education, advocacy, and partnerships to eliminate hunger by the solicitation and distribution of food. SHFBM has been in existence since 1981. We provide a regional distribution warehouse and branches that supply food and grocery items to charitable agencies that assist people in need. We provide training, technical assistance and hunger education to our partner agencies.

Cleveland  - Berea Animal Rescue

Berea ARF is a no-time-limit animal rescue providing shelter, love and care for stray and homeless animals for as long as it takes to place them into forever homes.

We receive no federal or municipal funding; we’re supported solely through adoptions, fundraisers and donations from generous supporters.

Detroit  - Samaritas Family Center

Samaritas has been sending ripples of positive change across Michigan since 1934.

Today, Samaritas spans the state’s Lower Peninsula with more than 60 program sites in over 40 cities, through nearly 2000 dedicated staff and volunteers. Those programs include: Adoption, Foster Care, Senior and Affordable Living. Our New Americans program offers refugee resettlement, job training and school readiness. Disability services are offered through group homes and in-home supports. Some other support services we offer include: Home Health, community services, prison to community reintegration for women, and we have the largest family homeless shelter program in the state.

Houston - Texas Children's Hospital

Texas Children's Hospital, located in Houston, Texas, is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to create a healthier future for children and women throughout our global community by leading in patient care, education and research. We are proud to be consistently ranked among the top children’s hospitals in the nation.

LA Market - Safe Place For Youth

Our mission is to inspire, nurture and empower the resilient human spirit of homeless youth by providing immediate and lasting solutions, one young person at a time. 

Safe Place for Youth prioritizes low barriers for entry, harm-reduction, a trauma-informed approach, and the provision of a safe, supportive environment. We do this through a continuum of care that includes street outreach, access center services, case management, health and wellness, and education and employment programs. 

Las Vegas - The Animal Foundation

A nonprofit, 501(c)3 organization, The Animal Foundation of Las Vegas, founded in 1978 as a low-cost spay and neuter clinic, is now the highest volume single-site animal shelter in America.

Much like a public hospital, as an open-admission shelter, The Animal Foundation takes in every animal who comes to us in need, no matter how sick or injured. From the expected dogs, cats, and rabbits, to pigs, fighting roosters, and exotic animals, we serve them all. Just like a hospital, we can’t save them all. What we can do, with the support of the community, is save every healthy and treatable animal who comes to us in need.

LAX - Para Los Niños

Since 1980, Para Los Niños has responded to the needs of under-served children and families in Los Angeles. Today, Para Los Niños supports over 6,000 children, youth, and families through its integrated model of education in nine schools, and comprehensive social emotional services in classrooms and communities.

Miami - The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army exists to meet human need wherever, whenever and however we can. The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

Orange County - The Art of Autism

The Art of Autism empowers and connects individuals within the autism community through participation in the Arts. Our mission is to foster independence, self-esteem and artistic expression by participation in The Art of Autism Project. We do this by raising awareness about autism and the arts and strengthening the broader autism community.

Phoenix - Halo Animal Rescue

Located in sunny Phoenix, Arizona, HALO Animal Rescue is a safety net for thousands of homeless dogs and cats each year.  We are a no-kill facility, which means we never euthanize an animal because we have run out of room, but it also means we are limited in the animals we can take in at any given time. These animals are lovingly cared for while they are prepared for adoption, and then they are adopted into loving homes.

Portland - Operation Nightwatch

Living without shelter is perhaps the loneliest experience there is. Shunned, rejected, isolated, houseless people live most of their lives in social isolation. Whatever other things they may be struggling with --e.g. unemployment, physical disability, mental illness, or addiction--are only magnified because they feel so terribly alone. Furthermore, evening is the loneliest time of day. Hungry, cold, and hurting, anyone who needs help but finds everything is closed finds the hours unimaginably long. Operation Nightwatch recognizes all this. Through our Hospitality Centers we provide not only a safe place where those on the streets can find food, socks, clothing, blankets, and medical care, but also caring staff and volunteers who will listen to their stories and welcome them as friends.

Riverside - Adopt A Family

Our mission is to bring opportunity to our community through the development and delivery of effective initiatives aimed at building sustainable skills in our youth and disadvantaged. Our organization has now expanded into five key programs to do so: Santa Express Parade and Holiday Giving, Youth Development, Senior Assistance, Health and Safety, and Career Assistance

San Fernando Valley - Hope In A Suitcase

Our mission is to provide children and teens in foster care with a suitcase/duffel bag, along with basic essentials and comfort items, to make their transition and circumstances just a little easier. We want children to enter a new foster family and/or school community with dignity, and without the lasting memory of arriving with a trash bag.

Seattle - Childhaven

Since 1909, Childhaven has been a safe and caring place for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers in King County. Today, our early learning, early intervention, and counseling programs support positive outcomes for all children and families in the communities we serve.
