It's a new year, and you know what that means - we have a full new roster of Mayesh Design Stars lined up for 2022! And lucky you, we're here to make the worst, post-holiday Monday of the year just a bit better by introducing you to our first Mayesh Design Star for the months of January & February!

So without further ado, we give you...

Jayne Kim is the owner of Still Carnations, a floral design studio in Los Angeles, CA. Not only is she an absolute pleasure to work with and a lovely human, but she is also absolutely brimming with creativity and has her finger on the pulse of floral & design trends. We hope you'll be inspired by Jayne's whimsical & eclectic style over the next couple of months.

And with that, let's learn a bit more about Jayne from the designer herself:

My flower journey started in 2012, working as a cashier at a flower shop in Detroit, MI. When I moved back to California, where my heart is, I continued expanding my knowledge and skill in floral design by starting as a part-time designer for an eCommerce company based in San Francisco that, at the time, shipped handmade bouquets 100% locally grown flowers all across the US.

After a few years of growing alongside that company, I found myself leading their entire design department. There, I developed relationships with farmers and wholesalers across California and learned to create recipes and production schedules for a team of 25 designers and flower processors. This intense and invaluable experience in my early twenties gave me the confidence to move back home to Los Angeles and start something that felt true to myself, which is Still Carnations.

Still Carnations is a floral design studio that focuses on events, styling, and house accounts for clients in Los Angeles. This business means so much to me because it melds together some of the things I value most: art + design, entrepreneurship, and working with both my mind and my hands. Being a floral designer is much more complex and challenging than outsiders can see, and I love getting the chance to create illusions of ease with each arrangement and installation.
