Mayesh Design Star: Brand Activation Installation

Written by Ali Dahlson | September 5, 2024

Erice McNeff's Design Star series has been guiding us through the world of brand activation and floral design. In her first two videos, Erice explored the business side of brand activation, sharing insights on attracting ideal clients and understanding your market value. She then walked us through the creative process, showing how to create mood boards and design coordinating floral arrangements that capture a brand's essence.

Now, in her third video, Erice brings it all together by demonstrating a hypothetical brand activation, focusing on creating a floral installation for a product launch. This final installment takes us from planning to execution.

In this video, Erice shows the crucial final step: designing and implementing an installation that showcases the product effectively and creates a wow moment for her client. She covers essential pre-event preparation, emphasizing the importance of a clean, organized workspace on site, and preparing your mechanics in advance.

The video's highlight is Erice's creative process as she designs a floral installation around the product, which is displayed on three white pedestals. She shares key tips:

  1. Focus on negative space
  2. Create pockets of color and visual interest but be sure to maintain balance
  3. Be intentional about your color placements - think about where you want the viewer's eye to go!
For example - this color palette uses purple & yellow which are opposites. Your eye will go to the yellow first, so use it strategically to place it near the company's logo & the product to bring the viewers eye there first
  4. Keep brand logos visible
  5. Ensure the product remains the main focus

These principles guide her as she crafts a design that complements and elevates the product without overshadowing it.

Whether you're an aspiring floral designer, event planner, or brand manager, Erice's third Design Star video is a valuable resource, full of practical tips and creative inspiration. Let's watch as Erice transforms a space into a captivating product showcase through floral design.
