To wrap up our 2019 Design Star workshop tour we hosted an all-levels workshop in Columbus, OH. Shean Strong led a group of students with varying floral experience in the two-day design workshop, with curriculum centered around the fundamentals for both bouquets and a large-scale installation. For the first time at a Mayesh workshop it SNOWED like crazy and had freezing temps, which made for absolutely beautiful photos, even if behind-the-scenes we were bundled up in between photos! Keep reading to hear more about what the students worked on and see the gorgeous designs they created!
Day one of the workshop started with mingling, appetizers, drinks and introductions. Design Master's Brad Beck gave a demonstration using various DM products, showing the students how both vessels and blooms can be transformed into unique colors. Following, Shean held a business discussion, walking the students through his creative process, pricing and proposals. He then opened up the floor for a Q&A.
Day two was a busy day full of design. After a walkthrough of the gorgeous products by our awesome Cleveland staff, Shean jumped right into his first demonstration. First up was a bouquet tutorial in which Shean shared his tips and tricks for designing a bouquet, allowing the students to watch as he worked. The students then designed their own bouquets with the help of Shean as needed.
After a lunch break it was time for the large-scale group installation. Shean walked the students through step-by-step, working with them to collaborate on a meadow-inspired wedding backdrop. Our lovely design assistant Noel Craft then modeled the students' bouquets with the backdrop, with Nicole Clarey capturing beautiful shots to share with the students.
