MDS x Beautiful People: Restaurant Dried Floral Installation

Written by Ali Dahlson | May 12, 2021

In her first video, Hafsa creates a dried floral installation for Lemon Press, a local Nantucket eatery featuring organic health foods, juices, craft cocktails, and more. While our past two designers have done primarily wedding & events, we're excited to switch gears a bit with Hafsa and talk more about floral design & marketing within your community, and partnering with local businesses for a different approach to building & expanding your business. There are so many different outlets for floral design, and now more than ever, collaborating with & supporting small businesses is a great way to create new revenue streams for your own business, as well as market your floral designs to the community. One, two, punch!

In this video, Hafsa discusses the importance of creating an installation that fits the setting & thinks about its audience, and how choosing long-lasting (or forever lasting) products, like dried & preserved products, will create the most bang for everyone's buck. For the design, she starts by creating a "chicken wire burrito" as the structural base & form and then attaches all of her product with zip ties.

On May 19th, Hafsa will join Yvonne on Mornings with Mayesh where she will dive further into working with local businesses, networking, and more.

Happy flowering! Share with us your thoughts on Hafsa's first design video in the comments below!
