SHOW NOTES
QUESTIONS
- So before you go live or create a regular ‘ole video, you need to know what you are going to talk about. Alison, how do you plan out your video content?
- Alison: What is our objective?
- Yvonne: Needs to be for your audience.
- There are many platforms to consider when going live - Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. What platforms do you use and how did you make that decision.
- What do you need to go live or create video content?
- Yvonne: some of my favorites:
- My computer didn’t come with a webcam, so I bought an external one and ended up going with Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920.
- Sound is crazy important - probably more important than the actual picture quality - so I bought a Blue Yeti USB mic for my computer. I love it!!!
- I have just a very basic light kit that I use for all of my Mornings with Mayesh shows.
- I also like to use this really cool gooseneck cell phone stand that has a light attachment. There are all sorts of companies but the brand that I bought has all sorts of contractions to hold mobile devices:
- You can also grab a super inexpensive cell phone tripod adapter that you can use with a tripod
- Last but not least, I don’t go live directly on Facebook. I use a platform called BeLive.tv. I love BeLive because it makes it really easy to have a professional-looking show with the ability to add in your brand, interact with the comments while live, sharing your screen/images/etc, and have 1-3 guests on with you at the same time. So when I started doing my show, Facebook and Youtuber were lacking in many of the features that I was looking for. I did use a platform called CrowdCast for awhile, but eventually tried BeLive and have been really happy so far.
- You can stream to Facebook or YouTube live, but not both at the same time yet … this feature is coming soon and you know I’m going to try that out!!
- If you want to try BeLive, here is my referral Link: https://belive.tv/?referrer=OTMyNw==
- @sarahsgardenstyle: What equipment is best to use?
- @brubaker_floral_co: What is a good beginner camera?
- @french buckets: If I want to send you a beautiful in home installation, should I just film it with my phone?
- Ok, so we have a video content plan, you know where you want to go live, and we have our equipment . . . what are some things that we should consider before clicking that “Go Live” button?
- Right before going live, I like to restart my computer and only open the computer programs that I absolutely need.
- For my shows, I use a wired internet connection to minimize the risk of that interfering with the lives.
- I ask my guests to have earbuds available just in case there is some noise issue that we cannot get rid of.
- The background - find somewhere that is clean & nice. Bonus, if your background represents you and your brand!
- Now it is time to go live - any tips for our first-time livers?
- After you go live or create a video, now what can you do to get the most out of that video?
- How can you create a podcast from a video?
- You can use an app like https://www.wevideo.com/ to create a video, but then it has an option to just download the audio.
- BeLive allow you to download just the video. I take that and upload it to WeVideo, record my intro, add my music, and then download the file.
- I use Libsyn to host my podcasts, which then sends it to all of the major podcast platforms like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, and Pandora.
