New Product Feature: Hybrid Echinacea

New Product Feature: Hybrid Echinacea

Now, imagine a Coneflower that's not just a cone – but more of a Seussical Truffula Tree!! David Dahlson is here to spill the petals on this new Hybrid of Echinacea purpurea, a larger fluffier variety of the well-known echinacea we all know and love.

Echinacea Purpurea is originally native to the Mid-West north to the Great Lakes and Southeastern United States and is a true American flower. It has been nurtured and collected by Native Americans for hundreds of years for its medicinal properties, and particularly for its anti-inflammatory properties. In floriculture, it has been valued for its sculptural cone-shaped inflorescence and is often called "Coneflower". The cone is made up of insignificant disc petals that form the cone and come with brightly colored ray petals around the cone. These ray petals tend to hang downward and are usually discarded in floral design.

Over the past ten years plant breeders in the USA and Holland have labored to produce Echinacea hybrids with cones that have significant colored petals over the entire cone. Mayesh is excited to introduce this new product to our discerning customer base for 2024. Our team that searches for new items to bring to market, initiated this project in 2022, and these hybrid Echinacea are being grown exclusively for Mayesh in Ecuador. These are hardy flowers with superb color saturation and a fluffy pompon look that is unique in the world of cut flowers.

The availability of these is currently limited as the first crop is still in its testing phase, we are receiving around 1-2 boxes a week from our grower. However, once production is heightened, we expect these to be available year-round for our customers.
