MDS San Diego Masterclass Recap

To kick off our 2019 Mayesh Design Star workshop tour, we headed to San Diego in January to host our first Masterclass workshop, led by the one and only Shean Strong. This Masterclass workshop focused on elevated design styles, a complex installation and an in-depth business talk. Experienced floral designers from near and far attended, and we are so grateful for those who made it out! Read on to learn more about the experience and see the gorgeous images from the workshop!

DAY ONE

We kicked off the first workshop with an evening welcome night, complete with various presentations and, of course, appetizers and wine! After an intro from our CEO Pat Dahlson, Gretchen of Design Master demonstrated some of the ways their awesome products can be used with fresh flowers. Following was a product walkthrough, in which we identified some of the more unique products students would be working with during the workshop. To wrap up the night, Shean talked about his creative process and had a Q&A with the students.

DAY TWO

For day two, the students jumped right in and designed all day. To start, Shean led a group installation in which the students created a gorgeous install, utilizing the venue space to build off of.

Next, Shean walked the students through a bouquet demonstration, then students were able to create their own bouquets, building off of their newly learned techniques. A professional model then modeled each students' bouquets, and students were able to take a quick break to enjoy lunch before jumping right back in to designing.

Following lunch, Shean led a centerpiece demonstration, and the students then created centerpieces of their own in beautiful Accent Decor vessels.

To wrap up, Shean hosted a business discussion, walking students through his proposal process and pricing. Students were then able to ask Shean questions before this fabulous workshop came to a close!
