Black-Owned Floral Design Businesses
As we navigate this eye-opening time and reflect on ways we can do better as a company and as an industry, one of the most glaring problems is the lack of diversity and representation of Black florists and POC in the beautiful floral images we share and see on Instagram and Pinterest. Kristen Griffith VanderYacht spoke about this on a recent episode of Mornings with Mayesh, and made it clear that we, as an industry, have to take it upon ourselves to create that diverse content that is so clearly missing.
As an industry that celebrates art, color, individuality and expression, we realize we can do so much better at representing and including Black florists and other florists of color. In order to do that, we have created this list thanks to the help of our customers, listing Black-owned floral design businesses in the US (and a few in Canada) organized by state to make for an easy reference guide when selecting a florist or event planner to work with in coming shoots, weddings and events.
We recognize the need for all POC to be represented better in our industry, and plan to create more of these lists in the future -- but at this at very moment we are focusing our support on Black florists and are committed to amplifying their voices and their floral art as we attempt to do our part in moving the industry forward and helping to dismantle the systemic racism that has plagued our country from the beginning.
