Mayesh Design Star: Retail Design & Creating a Sustainable Work Environment

In her second Design Star video, Heather is hanging out in her shop demonstrating how she designs her everyday retail deliveries using chicken wire, a beautiful vessel made by a local ceramicist, and seasonal, locally grown flowers. She uses just six varieties in this design to really highlight each flower - less can definitely be more when designing with seasonality in mind.

While we're on the subject of retail shops, Heather discusses how sustainability goes beyond the flowers and the importance of thinking about it in terms of business practices & creating a healthy work environment for your employees. From paying living wages to providing PTO, benefits, and a generally positive environment, we create happier & healthier employees that in turn help to decrease turnover & increase productivity. In the long run, this supports a stable & sustainable environment which is good for business and good for the community!
