Repurposing Flowers Resource Guide

Repurposing Flowers Resource Guide

While this industry has many positive things about it - more positive than not, really - that doesn't mean it doesn't come without its downsides. And one of the biggest challenges we are faced with is waste. While much of the industry is heading in a more sustainable direction, dealing with leftover flowers and waste is a struggle we all know too well.

However, if you're willing to make a small extra effort, there are many nonprofits out there that take used flowers headed to the dump and repurpose them for a good cause. In honor of Earth Day today, we've created a small list for you to reference. We know there are many more out there, so please let us know in the comments or email us at marketing@mayesh.com and we'll happily add them to the list!

And while we're on the subject of sustainability, here are some other creative ways to practice sustainability within your business!

  • Use terry towels instead of paper towels at your design table
  • Empty cooler bucket water onto outdoor plants when possible
  • Compost your stems and other organic waste, or find a local composter to give it to.
  • Rent out your vases & hard goods rather than leaving them with your clients so that you can reuse them for future events
